The kitchen is one the most expensive rooms in your home. For this very reason people are so scared to make a mistake or get their design wrong. Your and our goal is to get it right and perfect so you can love your kitchen for years to come!
But how do you get your design right? First and foremost, I’m sharing with you the #1 secret to this – Planning!
“A job well planned, is a job half done!”
Planning to me is the most essential tool to success. Equally it is the most important component to a successful design. Therefore, a carefully established kitchen plan builds the foundation of a great design which works for you and your family.
Why is planning so important? With anything in life a plan sets you up for success. A kitchen is a long-term investment for the next twenty-odd-years. Clearly for long-term goals you need a well thought through plan.
To plan a kitchen is a strategic process which involves a close cooperation between me and you. Apart from this it can be as simple as, if you plan you get what you want.

Win Confidence
Undoubtedly the process makes you feel more confident about the end product – this is my goal. Planning eliminates the fear of making a mistake. I’m taking you by your hand and walk you through the many steps and details of kitchen design.
Make it Functional
Moreover planning makes your kitchen more functional. Functionality promotes an uninterrupted workflow, as an immediate result you work more efficiently, which saves you time and energy. This newly gained time and energy you can gift to your family. This is a double win-win situation. Functionality can be translated into
- Perfect layout for you
- Clever and accessible storage
- Positioning of appliances, and most importantly allowing for enough space to fit them
- Task lighting
Avoid costly mistakes
Planning your kitchen definitely avoids costly mistakes. What are examples for costly mistakes?
- Plumbing mistakes
- Electrical mistakes
- Making the same mistakes again
Correcting plumbing or electrical mistakes are time consuming and nerve-wracking. For jobs in certain areas, you need to involve qualified trades. This is your plumber and electrician. These trades work off your plan, if your plan isn’t sound more likely something goes wrong.

Getting the details right
There are so many details to think about. This involves your colour and product selection. This is ensuring all your colours, finishes and textures are in harmony with each other and compose a balanced design. Details also are, internal cabinet hardware fit-outs, organizing your cupboards, and so much more. Furthermore, we pay attention to materials if they are easy to maintain and clean.
Industry Knowledge
Above all kitchen design requires a lot of industry knowledge, which people aren’t aware of. There are certain Australian Standards your kitchen needs to comply with and then there are industry recommendations to consider as well. Therefore, I am a member of the KBDI, which is the “Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute” of Australia. In this network of designers I am connected with industry colleagues and being kept up to date by the institute with all industry standards and recommendations.
